Questions and Answers:

1. How can I  sign up for lessons? What do I need? When can I start?

Our lessons are given via Skype or on the phone. Skype is the preferred method because it allows a greater range of communication. High-speed internet is required for Skype. You may require a textbook for some classes.
Send us a message explaining why you want to learn French or English, what your goals are, how much time you can devote to language learning per week (lessons: 30,45 or 60 minutes +
1-5 hours per week for practice and exercices). We will respond promptly and set up an appointment on Skype or on the phone to evaluate your level in the target language. During our conversation we will discuss your goals and the format of the lesson and answer other questions you may have. Once you have decided on a schedule for your lessons and you have paid for the first lessons we can begin.
Payment is by Paypal, personal check or bank transfer.

1 What method do you use?

The method used focuses on effective communication through comprehension and good pronunciation; it is designed to fit your needs and goals. Lessons are based on listening, reading, repetition and application in the form of practice and exercices (oral and written).  The core of the lesson is usually centered on a document such as a text, a photograph or a picture which will provide vocabulary, structure analysis, cultural observations and personal  inquiry. From that platform teacher and student work with questioning skills and responses; we often use language games, short dialogues or scenarios as a complement to the lesson. After the lesson the student will review and practice the material and complete some exercices which will be corrected during the next lesson.
The format greatly depends on the student's goals and the length of the lesson chosen.

2. How many lessons do I need to sign up for?

You can sign up for  however many classes you want to. However, we feel it is a good idea to sign up for several lessons to give yourself a good chance to see your progress and realise that you are moving ahead.  Also, remember that the rates are lower if you sign up for more than 4 lessons at one time.

3.  I learned French several years ago, but have very little confidence when I speak. Can I improve my skills to be able to have a conversation with French people when I travel?

If you are motivated to take lessons, practice and follow-up with studying between lessons there is no reason why your confidence shouldn't improve rapidly. Lessons designed around good pronunciation and basic vocabulary at first will allow you to see progress quickly. Lessons focused on travel and communication will be the next step. Your confidence will improve from the first lesson and continue to grow.

4. I need to reach a fairly good level of French to communicate with my clients. Can your lessons help?

We strive at building our lessons around your needs . We establish goals with you before the first lesson and each lesson  moves you towards the goals you have defined. In your case we will work in your area of business to focus on your specific communication  needs. Working with scenarios specific to your area will give you vocabulary, grammatical structures and practice in the context of your activities. We assess the lessons on a regular basis to measure progress and to establish new goals.

Our family (parents and 6 year-old daughter) are moving to France in a few months and we need to learn  French. Can we learn enough before we leave to make the move easier? How can we set up lessons for all of us?

We can design a family program for you and propose lessons that the whole family can practice together. However, this may depend on your individual levels and personal lessons may be more beneficial and more efficient at least at the beginning. Your personal goals need to be evaluated to determine what will work best for all.

I moved to a rural area in France and haven't found the right French class to learn the language. Can your classes be a solution for me?

Yes, of course: you can pick the best time in your schedule for your classes, stay home and practice with your teacher on Skype then in your village or town. Our lessons are flexible, designed for you and can be adjusted and modified as your needs change. We can focus on conversation, listening skills, writing, grammatical concepts or all of these if that's what you need to work on.

7  Are there other options?

Yes, workshops or séjours linguistiques  are another option. These options are designed for groups or 3 or more and have a very intensive immersion format
